Portugal v Spain preview
It is semi-final time and Vicente Del Bosque's Spain are two games away from an historic treble of international tournament wins. They are 7/4 to win Euro 2012 with Portugal their next step on the road to glory on Wednesday. Spain are 2/5 to qualify for the final and 10/11 to win in 90 minutes.
France were the tricky opponents that met Spain in the quarter finals but light work was made of Les Blues. The pre tournament dark horses were finished off by a Xabi Alonso double (14/1).
The first goal came from a great run where Alonso headed past Hugo Lloris from a Jordi Alba cross and the second coming from the spot. Alonso is 20/1 to top score at the tournament with Fabregas the same price.
Fernando Torres is 7/1 as they all tie on two goals apiece, one behind the front runners. Alonso is also considered to have a fair chance of being named the player of the tournament at 16/1. His team mate Andres Iniesta is 5/1 and Xavi 14/1 for that honour.
Alonso is 10/1 to open the scoring in the semi final clash against neighbours Portugal. Most of the Spain team will know exactly what to expect when facing Portugal and he comes in the form of a Real Madrid superstar.
Cristiano Ronaldo started this tournament slowly but he is the main threat after two outstanding performances accumulating in three goals and favouritism, at 4/1 for the player of the tournament.
He will need to be watched if Spain are to make history and be the first team to win a third straight international tournament.
Whatever happens over the next week Spain are set to be a front runner for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014. They are currently 9/2 second favourites behind their hosts to lift a second World Cup. Whether they will be going for a fourth tournament victory in a row it is yet to be seen with Ronaldo and Co a hefty stepping stone.
