Manchester United v Arsenal

  • Manchester United have won seven and lost none of the last eight matches against Arsenal at Old Trafford in all competitions.
  • Last season, Manchester United inflicted Arsenal's biggest ever defeat in the Premier League when they won 8-2 at Old Trafford.
  • Robin van Persie scored in both league meetings last season while playing for Arsenal. He scored 96 Premier League goals for the Gunners before moving north to Man Utd this summer.
  • Wayne Rooney scored his first Premier League goal, his first in the PL for Man Utd and his 100th Premier League goal against Arsenal.
  • Rooney's 10 goal haul is the highest by a Premier League player against the Gunners (along with Robbie Fowler) and also his joint-highest versus any opponent in the history of the competition.
  • There have been nine penalties in the Premier League meetings between Arsenal and Manchester United in the Wenger era (seven for United, two for Arsenal); all at Old Trafford and five have been missed.

  • Stoke have been involved in three of the six goalless draws in the Premier League this season, more than any other side.
  • Dean Whitehead has picked up two yellow cards and a red card in his four Premier League starts this season.

  • Clint Dempsey has scored six goals against Wigan, more than versus any other opponent in his Premier League career.
  • Spurs have won four and lost just one of the last six league meetings with Wigan.
  • Tottenham have lost just three of their last 23 Premier League home games, though they were defeated by Chelsea last time on home soil (W15 D5 L3).
  • Tottenham have scored at least two goals in their last six Premier League games. Their best such run last season was 11 games.
  • No team has conceded more headed goals than Wigan this season (5).
  • The Latics have also conceded the most goals from penalties - three.

  • The last five Premier League games between Newcastle and Liverpool have all ended as home wins.
  • Liverpool have only won three of their last 14 Premier League matches at Anfield (W3 D5 L6).
  • Newcastle have won none of their last five Premier League away games, but have drawn the last three in a row.
  • Only one of Luis Suarez's last nine Premier League goals has come at Anfield.

  • West Brom's substitutes have provided five assists this season, more than any other club's replacements.
  • The Baggies have lost their last two Premier League games to goals scored in the 90th minute, only the fourth time this has happened within eight days in Premier League history.
  • Southampton's total of 26 goals conceded in their first nine matches is the worst ever defensive performance at this stage of a Premier League season and equates to 110 goals conceded over the season, 10 more than the divisional record (Swindon 1993-94)
  • Chris Brunt has the highest rate of crosses per 90 mins this season (10.9 per 90 mins).
  • Southampton have thrown away more points from winning positions than any other Premier League team this season, 11.
