Ron Fergie, Ron!
Alex Ferguson is keen to rest Cristiano Ronaldo against Villarreal but the Portuguese superstar just wants to keep on running.
Ronaldo was unable to finish Man Utd's weekend match against Aston Villa, but after training well on Monday he has pleaded with Fergie to start him in the Champions League match against Villarreal.
"When players show that enthusiasm to play you don't deter them, you encourage it," Ferguson said of his star winger. "It is a problem. I would rather leave him out."
Sir Alex might, ultimately, find it difficult to rest the future World Player of the Year, with Dimitar Berbatov sidelined and Carlos Tevez (7/1 to score the first goal) failing to impress; and if he does start he will be United's main goal threat. Ronaldo is priced at 9/2 to score the first goal.
United go into the game knowing a point would be enough for both teams to qualify for the last 16, but they should not be expecting an easy ride.
Villarreal have won both their home Champions League games this season and came away from Old Trafford with a deserved point earlier in the year. This meeting could be just as close as the first and is reflected in the match betting odds, with Villarreal 2/1 to win, Man Utd 7/4, and the draw, 7/4.
The Spaniards will give a shirt to former United junior Giuseppe Rossi and, knowing how football works, you wouldn't bet against him scoring at some point. He is 7/1 to get the first goal, but looks great value at 11/4 as an anytime scorer.
