Weekend La Liga previews

A word from your writer:

Apologies once again as I'm still without proper internet connection in my new home and have been very unwell for a few days. So unwell that I will quite seriously go back to bed after spending 15 minutes writing these brief previews for your consideration.

Atletico Madrid v Osasuna, 19:00-Sky Sports 1

After going two goals down in 20 minutes, Atletico (8/13) tried hard in their cross city derby match with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last weekend, but the damage was done and they could find no way back into the game.

Diego Forlan is still clearly off form, but Kun Aguero (9/2 to score first, 6/5 anytime) scored first in Atleti's last home game - a surprising 1-1 draw with Almeria - and would be my top pick to do so again today.

In typical fashion, Osasuna (9/2) bounced back from a heavy away defeat (the week before) to comfortably beat Hercules 3-0 in Pamplona last weekend.

I would not expect Osasuna to win today and see the draw (11/4) as a stretch. I do expect Atleti to win but, given what we saw in their last home game, do not deem them worth the risk at their pre match price of 8/13.

Worth a punt: Aguero to score first (9/2)

Barcelona v Villarreal, 21:00-Sky Sports 1/La Sexta

Always an entertaining fixture and one in which, bar last season (1-1 draw), over 2.5 goals (4/11) is usually a winning bet. However, the "Yes" option in the both teams to score market should prove to be a far safer bet and comes with a much better price at 4/6.

Staying on the subject of scoring, without doubt the best bet in recent games involving Barca has been the wincast bet of Messi to score first and Barcelona to win the match (14/5).

However, the visit of Juan Carlos Garrido's Villarreal (10/1) should provide Pep Guardiola's Barcelona (1/4) with their biggest test of the league season so far and I'm not 100% convinced that the Catalans will win.

Star defender Pique is missing and, given that it's happened several times before, the draw sounds like a worthy punt and is generously priced at 9/2.

I don't see this game ending scoreless, and think that one of (or both at a stretch) the in-form tandem of Nilmar and Rossi (both 10/1 to score first, 7/2 anytime) in the same categories) will score for Villarreal. For the record, my preference is the Brazilian.

Until I get a proper internet connection in my new Spanish home and work out the best way of attaining Gol TV and/or Canal + Liga, I'm reliant on the one game per week offered on free Spanish TV. This week it's this game and I don't want to rule anything out for my viewing pleasures.

Recommendations: Both teams to score (4/6) and Villarreal +2 goals (21/20)

Worth a punt: Nilmar e/w first scorer (10/1) and the anytime scorers doubled bet of the same player and Messi (6/1).

Enjoy the action and don't forget that William Hill Online offer more than 100 in-play markets for you to choose from.
