Empoli-Chievo

 

 


Empoli have never drawn in the opening weekend in Serie A (W3, L7).
Empoli will start Serie A at home for the third time: in their two previous opening games, they've won against Inter (1986) and lost against Roma (1997).

Chievo's last away win on MD1 in Serie A was in 2002 (3-2 against Lazio): since then, they have drawn two and lost two.

Chievo won their last Serie A game against Empoli on 25th October 2003: since then, they have drawn five and lost two.

Empoli and Chievo didn't win from a trailing situation in Serie A in 14-15 (the only two teams to do the same were Cagliari and Cesena).

Chievo scored 28 goals last season - only Hamburg (25) and Cordoba (22) scored fewer in the top five European leagues.

Empoli made the most recoveries in Serie A 14-15 (2452).

The next  time Chievo win will be their 150th in Serie A.

Levan Mchedlidze has scored three of the last six Empoli's goals in Serie A.

Alberto Paloschi has scored  22 goals in the last two league campaigns: 35.5% of Chievo's goals (62).

 

 

 

Fiorentina-Milan

 

 

 

Fiorentina have conceded the most goals on Serie A MD1 (99).

Fiorentina have won their last three opening games of the season starting at home, against  Bologna, Udinese and Catania.

Fiorentina's last home defeat at home on MD1 was in 2006: 2-3 against Inter.

Milan lost their last away game on MD1 (2013, 2-1 against  Hellas) after winning 10 games and drawing four away from the San Siro on the opening weekend.

Milan have won only one of their last four games played against Fiorentina on MD1 (D2, L1).

Milan lost their last game played at Franchi against Fiorentina, after winning five games and drawing three in Florence.

Milan scored the most penalties in Serie A  in 14-15 (11).

Fiorentina have failed to score five penalties in Serie A last season, the joint worst with Napoli.

Davide Astori has completed the most headed clearances (845) over the last six Serie A seasons.

Carlos Bacca had the highest shot conversion rate in La Liga 14-15 (33.9%) amongst players with seven or more goals.


 

 

 

Frosinone-Torino

 

 

 

This will be Frosinone's first Serie A game in their history.

These two teams have met four times in Serie B: Frosinone lead by two wins to one, with one draw.

The last meeting between these two sides is dated March 2011 in Serie B: Frosinone won 1-0 thanks to a goal courtesy of Biasi.

Since 1990, of the nine teams debuting in Serie A, only Chievo (2001) have won the opening game; Siena and Reggina drew, while Parma, Ancona, Reggiana, Piacenza, Treviso and Sassuolo lost.

Torino haven't lost any of their last six opening games of the league season (two wins and four draws), keeping a clean sheet in each of the last four.

Torino have won all of  their last four opening games against a debuting team in Serie A (Pistoiese, Piacenza, Ancora and Sassuolo).

Torino scored the joint-most headed goals last season in Serie A, 12 (along with Lazio).

Frosinone won 14 home games in last season's Serie B, more than any other team, losing only once on their soil.

Maxi Lopez has been involved in six of the last nine Torino goals in Serie A, with five goals and one assist.

Federico Dionisi (14) and Daniel Ciofani (13) netted 27 of the 62 Frosinone's goals in Serie B 2014/15 (43.5%).

 

 

 

Verona-Roma

 

 

 

With Rudi Garcia as manager, Roma have always won 2-0 on MD1, against Livorno and Fiorentina.

Roma have not conceded goals in seven of their last 11 games on the opening weekend.

Roma and Verona have met four times on MD1: Roma have won one (1991), and drawn three.

Roma are unbeaten in Serie A against Verona since October 1996 (W8, D3).
Roma scored five headed goals in Serie A 14-15, 9% of their goals (54) - this percentage is the worst from last season.

In Serie A 14-15, Roma went ahead 23 times and won 19 of these games (83% - a record last season).
Verona gained 19 points from a trailing situation - a record in Serie A 14-15.

Verona scored five own goals in Serie A 14-15, more than any other team.

Luca Toni scored his last goal against Roma in Serie A on April 2006, with Fiorentina: since then he has played eight games without scoring against the Giallorossi.

Inter-Atalanta

 

 

 

Inter are unbeaten against Atalanta on MD 1 in Serie A, (W3, D1).

Inter have failed to score in just two of their last 27 Serie A opening games: two 0-0 draws against Bologna and Torino.

Atalanta have won only one Serie A opening game away from home: 6-2 at Bologna in 1949 - since then, they have lost 17 times and drawn six times MD 1 on the road.

Atalanta have lost the Serie A opening game of the season 24 times so far, more than any other side.

Inter haven't been defeated on MD 1 at home since 1987 against Pescara; since then, they have won 10 and  drawn  three.

Each of the last six meetings between these two teams has seen at least two goals scored (four goals per game on average over this period).

Atalanta scored the joint-most goals from indirect free-kicks in Serie A 2014/15 alongside Lazio (six).

Of the 20 teams taking part in Serie A 2015/16, Inter are Mauricio Pinilla's favourite opponent ,with five goals scored against the Nerazzurri in eight games.

Mauro Icardi scored 41 goals over the last three Serie A seasons - among players born in 1993 only Romelu Lukaku has netted more goals across the top-5 European leagues (42, before the beginning of the new Premier League season).

Geoffrey Kondogbia completed 78.4% of the dribbles attempted in the last Ligue 1 season (40 out of 51) - the highest rate among midfielders on 15+ dribbles attempted.

 

 

Juventus-Udinese

 

 

 

Juventus have scored the most goals (182) and won the most times (53) on Serie A MD 1.

Juventus have lost only one of their last 31 Serie A opening games (0-1 at Bari in 2010), winning 23 times in this period.

Juventus have never lost the first game of the season in the league played at home: 40 games with 33 wins and seven draws.

Juventus and Udinese have met twice in Serie A on MD 1: Juve have won both matches conceding no goals.

Udinese have won only one of their last eight Serie A opening games (D4, L3).

Udinese haven't defeated Juventus in Serie A since January 2011: since then they have drawn twice and lost six times.

Juventus have won the last four home clashes against Udinese in Serie A, keeping a clean sheet in the last three.

Juventus scored four direct free-kick goals last season in Serie A, more than any other side - however, Pirlo (two free-kick goals) and Tévez (two) are no longer part of the squad.

The first Serie A red card picked up by Leonardo Bonucci in Serie A came against Udinese in January 2011 at home  to Juventus.

Antonio Di Natale has never found the net in the last 10 league meetings against Juventus.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lazio-Bologna

 

 

 

Lazio have won one of the four Serie A meetings against Bologna on MD 1: 3-0 at home on 6th of October 1929.

Lazio have found the net in 17 of their last 18 Serie A opening games (apart from a 0-2 against Sampdoria in 2010), scoring 30 goals in these games.

Lazio have drawn 28 Serie A opening games so far, more than any other side.

The last Lazio home defeat on MD 1 came in 2002: 2-3 versus Chievo - since then, they have won four and drawn once on their debut at the Olimpico.

Bologna are winless in their last five Serie A opening games (two draws followed by three losses), scoring no goals in the last four.

Lazio have won 34 out of their 61 home clashes with Bologna in Serie A (D16 L11), scoring 110 goals in these matches.

Bologna have failed to find the net in the last four Serie A meetings against Lazio: two 0-0 draws and 6-0 and 1-0 wins for the Biancocelesti.

47 of 71 Lazio's goals in last season's Serie A were scored by midfielders, a record last season.

Antonio Candreva attempted 185 open play crosses last season, more than any other player - Candreva was involved in five of the last 10 Lazio Serie A goals (three goals and two assists).

Palermo-Genoa

 

 

 

Palermo have conceded goals in eight of their last nine Serie A opening games (17 goals in total).

Palermo and Genoa will meet on MD 1 for the first time in Serie A.

Genoa have lost their Serie A opening match in the last two seasons, against Napoli and Inter.

Genoa have not drawn the opening game of the season away from home since 1992 (1-1 against Fiorentina): since then, they have  one won, lost three and scored only one goal.

Palermo have lost two Serie A home games against Genoa (W10, D5), the last one coming in March 2008.

Palermo hit the woodwork 20 times last season in Serie A, no team hit it more.

Genoa won the joint-most Serie A games last season  coming back from behind (four wins, along with Juventus, Napoli and Sassuolo).

Ivaylo Chochev scored his only Serie A brace against Genoa at the Barbera on 19 of April 2015 (2-1 the final score).

Franco Vázquez delivered a joint-record 10 assists in last season's Serie A - he also completed the most dribbles (126) and hit the woodwork the most times (nine).

Leonardo Pavoletti will miss the first game of the season: he scored seven goals in just 647 minutes played last term, being the player with the best minutes played/goals ratio (one goal every 92 minutes) among those on 2+ goals.

 

 

 

 

 

Sampdoria-Carpi

 

 

 

Sampdoria and Carpi have never met in Serie A.

Sampdoria have lost three of their last five Serie A opening games at the Ferraris, including the last one in 2013 against Juventus.

Sampdoria lost only twice at home in last season's Serie A, only Juventus did better.

Carpi haven't won the opening game of the season since 2012 when they defeated Trapani 1-0 at home - since then, they have drawn one and lost one.

Carpi picked up 37 points away from home in last season's Serie B, more than any other side.

Carpi won 22 of the 23 Serie B games they were leading in 2014/15, drawing the other.

29% of Sampdoria's goals scored in Serie A 2014/15 were netted in the last 15 minutes of play, the highest rate of the last season.

Fernando, with Shakhtar Donetsk, attempted (19) and won (16) the most tackles in the Champions League 2014/15.

Gaetano Letizia was the defender with the most assists (nine) in last seasons' Serie B.

One of Nicolás Spolli's six goals in Serie A has come against Sampdoria, in May 2013 away from home.

 

 

 

Sassuolo-Napoli

 

 

 

Napoli have won on MD1 in the last four seasons, scoring 11 goals (conceding two).

Sassuolo have never won on MD1 in Serie A (D1, L1).

Napoli are unbeaten in four meetings against Sassuolo in Serie A (W3, D1).

Sassuolo have never scored in the last three games played against Napoli.

Napoli have failed to score five penalties in last seaon's Serie A, a joint negative record with Fiorentina.

Sassuolo and Napoli have won four times from trailing situation - a joint record with Genoa and Juventus in Serie A 14-15.

Sassuolo's defender Paolo Cannavaro played with Napoli (197 appearances and six goals in Serie A).

Mirko Valdifiori made six assists from set plays, more than any other Serie A player in 14-15.

Domenico Berardi was the youngest player to score 15+ goals in the top 5 European leagues in 14-15.
