Serie A preview - 22-23 October
This brand new expansive brand of Italian football that kicked off the season was somewhat brought to a standstill last weekend as five games ended with no goals.
These ten teams were saved by by a pulsating Rome derby to end the weekend as Lazio beat Roma 2-1. Osvaldo scored first, as tipped followed by an equalising penalty by Lazio midfielder Hernanes, as tipped.
The good thing about that though is that it can only get better this weekend.
Ten games which are sure to produce goals, we hope. There are only two games on Saturday evening as Fiorentina host Catania. The home side are odds on at 8/11 and should beat their visitors but the value bets at the moment in Italy are draws and this one to end all square is priced at 5/2.
The next game on Saturday is Juventus at home to Genoa. Genoa have been solid, not extravagant so far this season and will try and keep it tight in Turin. Juventus are 4/6 to win the game but maybe a low correct score could be of value. 1-0 is 6/1 and 2-0 is 7/1 and should be worth considering as Juventus want to keep the early season momentum going.
Sunday sees the majority of games kick off at 2pm. Napoli travel to the impressive Cagliari after a week where they became only the second team to score against Bayern Munich this season and will be confident after getting the draw they wanted against the German giants and should be going into the game in high spirits despite last week's home defeat to Parma.
The Naples club are 7/5 to record a victory but again, the draw may be the likeliest of outcomes at 23/10 but the value bet is Napoli to get the victory.
Roma will want to bounce back after a disappointing defeat to city rivals Lazio and have the chance to do just that at home to Palermo. The Rome club are 8/11 to get the three points but Osvaldo to score first once again at 11/2 should be considered.
Palermo lost 3-0 at Milan last weekend and heads are definitely down right now. The Roma double result at 17/10 could also be worth a punt as they should be coming out the traps all guns blazing on Sunday afternoon.
The early kick off on Sunday sees a rejuvenated AC Milan travel to Lecce. Five goals in the last two games without reply should give Allegri's men confidence to go and fire a couple more past Lecce. Ibrahimovic has been brilliant since his return from a short injury lay off and Lecce should be cannon fodder for him. He is 9/2 to score two or more and 25/1 to bag a hat trick. If he fancies it then Lecce should watch out.
One team to once again avoid this weekend should be Inter Milan. Although they recorded an impressive 1-0 victory away at Lille in the Champions League nobody knows which Inter will turn up. Inter are 1/2 to win at the San Siro against Chievo but that is far too short for a Jekyll and Hyde type outfit in Inter. Both Teams To Score is 10/11 and this should have plenty of interest considering how poor the Nerrazurri have been at the back this season and last.
Elsewhere this weekend Udinese are a huge 4/9 to beat Novara after recording a victory against Atletico Madrid in the Europa League on Thursday. Siena host Cesena and the victors of the Rome derby, Lazio travel to Bologna.
The draw double sticks out with the latter two games with prices of 5/2 and 23/10.
