Survival Sunday Preview
Not since Terminator 2, Judgement Day, has a solitary day in the year meant so much to so many, but Survival Sunday will have many a football fan up and down the country on the edge of their seat.
Fans of Blackpool, Wigan, Wolves, Blackburn and Birmingham will all be on the edge of their seat as they watch their team battle the drop. A figure of £90m has been bandied about as what the teams will be playing for such is the vast richness of being in the Premier League.
We have an enhanced William Hill Match('s) Winner for the three big games on Sunday, can any of Blackpool, Wigan or Birmingham come from behind and win their respective matches on this Survival Sunday? You can back this at 5/1.
You can also back Charlie Adam and Charles N'Zogbia to score at anytime on Sunday at the enhanced price of 16/1 as part of another Match Winner offer.
Man Utd v Blackpool
Ian Holloway's side have by far been one of the most entertaining all season, their attack attack policy paid dividends at the start of the season, but in 2011 their form went down the toilet, however they have dug deep and are currently four games without a defeat. The Tangerines are 9/2 to get a win from Old Trafford while Man Utd are 8/15. Ferguson will be resting several of the big names with a Champions League final on the horizon, but his reserves are certainly equivalent to a mid-table Premier League side. Blackpool's only option is to continue to attack, over 2.5 goals is ½, but even at this short price it still seems to be a good bet. Charlie Adam has scored or assisted 12 goals in his last 14 Premier League appearances for the Seasiders. The striker is 9/1 to score first and 10/3 to score at anytime. Blackpool have it all to play for, while Man Utd will want parade the Premier League trophy in front of their fans on the back of a win. You can back the visitors plus at goal at 29/20.
Stoke and Wigan
Nothing but a win will realistically save Wigan's season, but they are playing a Stoke side who are coming off the back of two straight defeats to Man City. Roberto Martinez has called for calm ahead of the game and there is an air of confidence that Wigan can stay up, they are 6/4 to do the job and beat Stoke. Charles N'Zogbia has been a hero for Wigan and scored five goals in his last five Premier League appearances, he is a 13/2 shot to score first. Kenwyne Jones has been the main scorer for Stoke and he is a 5/1 shot to bag the first goal of the match. With so much at stake, backing Wigan -1 goal at 4/1 could be well worth the big return.
Tottenham v Birmingham
Only goal difference is keeping the Brummies out of the relegation zone, just two wins from the last 12 games has seen them slip into the relegation dogfight. They face a Spurs side who have yet to guarantee a Europa league spot. Birmingham are a massive 5/1 to upset Spurs and secure their safety. Depending on results a draw might just be enough to save them and you can back that at 16/5. Birmingham have never kept a clean sheet on the final day of the season and you can back both sides to score at 13/20.
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Blackburn Rovers
Mick McCarthy is adamant that his Wolves side are staying up, the former Irish manager refuses to discuss possible relegation and his side have made the most forward progress in the last few weeks. Blackburn on the other hand are another side who slipped back into this fight as they hit a very poor run of form recently. Wolves are 23/20 to come away with a win and retain their Premier League status. A point each could see both teams stay up and the draw is 2/1. Wolves are yet to beat Rovers in the Premier League, although both their previous home meetings have ended in score draws.
