Three more points for Charlton at The Valley?
Charlton Athletic welcome Leyton Orient to The Valley in Monday's evening kick-off. Charlton will be looking to make it twelve games unbeaten in all competitions and go joint top of the table. The picture isn't as rosy for Leyton Orient as they sit one point above the relegation zone and look set for another defeat here.
Charlton (4/9) look a solid League 1 side and have a good chance of bouncing straight back up after suffering the heartbreak of relegation last season. They currently sit third and a win will see them go level on points with Norwich and Leeds at the top, although an inferior goal difference will mean they can't actually move up the table.
Leyton Orient (6/1) have only one win in their last six games and with only two away league victories all season you would expect this poor stat to continue as Charlton look too strong. This season Orient have conceded on average two goals per game and with Charlton among the top scoring teams in the league you can expect the game to have a few goals - over two at 3/4 looking most likely.
Team news now and Charlton have no major injury worries; they will hope to name an unchanged team from the victory over Hartlepool on Tuesday. Sam Sodje will sit out with one game left of his ban. David Mooney will likely partner top scorer Deon Burton up front and you can get 4/1 and 7/2 respectively on them to get the first goal.
As I expect Charlton to run away with the game, the doubled anytime goal scorers look good with both of these men to get on the score sheet at any time a decent 3/1 shout.
Hot prospect Jonjo Shelvey has attracted interest from Premier League clubs recently and certainly has an eye for goal in this league and at 5/4 to get one anytime - it's certainly worth a go.
Ben Chorley should return to the heart of Orient's defence after missing out on last week's 2-0 win over Yeovil due to picking up five yellow cards. Ryan Jarvis, who has Premier League experience, could be a good call to score anytime at 7/2. You may recall the 20-yard screamer he scored against Liverpool while at Norwich in 2005.
Scott McGleish is the O's top scorer with nine goals and you can get 9/1 on him getting on the score sheet first, although I think Orient will be more concerned with keeping the ball out of the net at the other end rather than expecting to score first.
For something a bit different why not try the Match x Goals market where you can get a special doubled up price of a Charlton victory and over 2.5 match goals at 11/10 or Charlton and under 2.5 goals looking good at 12/5.
3rd v 19th in the league should really indicate the gulf in class between these two and I think it will show on the pitch with my tip of an easy 3-0 victory for Charlton at 15/2.
It might not be Champions League quality but League 1 can still produce some good football, let's hope for some goals and a couple of winning bets.
