Udinese spurs on Ramos departure?
Another match, another loss. In what is becoming a dire situation, Tottenham lost yet again. This time away to Udinese in their first match in the UEFA Cup group stage. Tottenham started ok (at least for them recently) until 'keeper Gomes decided to needlessly concede a penalty and the players' fragile confidence was shattered when Di Natale dispatched the ball from the spot with ease. Things were compounded when Jamie O'Hara was sent off early on in the second half for a second bookable offence, a minute after receiving his first yellow.
When it rains it certainly pours for Ramos' side at the moment. As a result of this defeat in Italy, Tottenham's odds to win the UEFA Cup drifted from 14/1 to 20/1. To win their group Spurs went from 13/8 favourites to 11/4, whereas Udinese are now the favourites to win the group at odds of 6/4 from 2/1. To win the whole thing the Italian side are now 25/1 shots from 33/1.
Of the other English sides left in the competition Portsmouth (25/1) also did nothing for patriotic pride falling to a 3-0 defeat away at Portuguese side Braga. However, Aston Villa boosted the English spirits with a 2-1 success at home to Dutch giants Ajax. Villa are among the favourites to win the Cup at 11/1. England 's other representative, Man City were not in action this week and remain as 10/1 shots.
Ahead of Aston Villa and Man City in the betting are Italian giants AC Milan and one of La Liga's finest, Sevilla. Milan are 4/1 favourites (from 9/2) after defeating Heerenveen in Holland. Valencia are joint second favourites (with Mark Hughes' Man City) at 10/1, like Man City they also were not in action.
