Winning Wednesday To Fell The Forest!

Sheffield Wednesday v Nottingham Forest
17:20 - live on Sky Sports 2

Championship rivals Wednesday and Forest clash in this Saturday tea-time clash at Hillsborough with both teams looking to build on promising recent runs of form.

The visitors look rejuvenated after Billy Davies returned to the City Ground a second stint as Forest manager. Back-to-back wins have followed a draw in Davies' first three games back, a run that includes the 6-1 demolition of Huddersfield.

Wednesday's seven match unbeaten run is the longest current positive sequence in the division, one that has enabled the Owls to move five points clear of the relegation zone. Three of those results may have been draws, but based on a solid defence backline, Wednesday can also boast having avoided defeat in eleven of their last twelve matches.

On the injury front, Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones has no new concerns after Anthony Gardener came through the win against Crystal Palace last Saturday following a spell on the sidelines.

The aforementioned Billy Davies can choose from a full squad also, with the exception of centre-back Greg Halford who is suspended after picking up his 10th booking of the season last weekend.

With both teams in such fine form, the match betting could barely be closer. The hosts have been nominated as marginal favourites at 13/8 while the visitors can be backed at 9/5.

The draw, not an unlikely outcome when all is considered, is priced at 21/10.

In the reverse fixture in Nottingham, Forest ran out 1-0 winners (0-1 Correct Score 15/2) courtesy of an own goal from Wednesday's Miguel Llera. The Spaniard has been in decent goalscoring form this season and can be backed at 6/1 to find the back of the net, but at the right end this time.

The William Hill Headline offers for this tie focus around the goalscoring duo of Leroy Lita and Billy Sharp. Lita is on loan at Hillsborough from Swansea and has endeared himself to the Owls' faithful by grabbing three goals in his first five matches. The former Reading hitman has been enhanced from 11/4 to 4/1 to score in a home victory.

Billy Sharp has been in and out of the Forest team in recent times but the ex-Sheffield United man will have a point to prove at the home of the Blades' biggest rivals. The 11 goal striker can be backed at 5/1 to score anytime in an away win.
