2010 Ryder Cup Specials
With only 6 days to go until the first ball is driven in anger at the 2010 Ryder Cup the pressure is mounting on both teams.
The European team under the stewardship of Colin Montgomerie know that they must improve their collective team performance from that displayed at Valhalla two years ago. With the likes of Graeme McDowell and Martin Kaymer taking down two of the Majors this season and the last five events on The European Tour International Schedule having been won by a player from Captain Monty's team, there are many reasons to believe that the Ryder Cup will be remaining on European shores for the next couple of years at least.
The US team embark on a journey to south Wales in a slightly more tentative mood. If History is anything to go by then the Yanks face a tough task in attempting to defend the Ryder Cup. Indeed they haven't successfully defended the trophy on foreign soil since 1993, with current Captain Pavin contributing three points to the cause. Much of the build up on the US side to this historic golfing battle was the Captain's decision to include Tiger Woods, after Woods failed to qualify on points. Nearly half the US team are rookies and Pavin will be looking to the likes of Woods, Mickelson, Furyk and Stricker to coach those lesser experienced pro's through the rounds.
