Odds-on Open winner is 10th straight maiden victor

After winning the US Open, Webb Simpson became the ninth maiden Major winner in a row and William Hill offer 1/2 that the Open Championship is also a maiden victory.

That said four time major champion Phil Mickelson has been backed today in from 40/1 to 28/1 following an impressive display at the Scottish Open. Whilst Woods is the 7/1 favourite and Westwood a 14/1 shot.

"It is an astonishing run of nine maiden winners in a row and I for one would not back against a tenth at the Open Championship," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
