Jogadusc looking to Ace the final test
Jogadusc Ace has not let a rival get near him in his last four races and is favourite at odds of 5/4 to take the williamhill.com Blue Riband final.
One of three Mark Wallis runners in the race, Jogadusc Ace has impressively won his last four races and it is felt he is still improving with age.
The trainer has made no secret that he is bullish about his chances as he runs Hall Green very well and has his favoured Trap 1 and it will take a special performance from one of his rivals to trouble the favourite.
The one who really could cause the favourite trouble is Lenson Express coming out of Trap 2 who is available at 4/1 in the betting.
Tony Collett's ultra-consistent dog is contesting his third Category One final of the year, and is not just here to make up numbers.
If he springs the traps ahead of the favourite in Trap 1 then Lenson Express has every chance of holding on for the win.
Mark Wallis' other two runners are next in the betting with Goldcrest King coming out of Trap 3 at odds of 5/1 and Mountjoy Ruby in Trap 4 available at 6/4 in the betting.
Goldcrest King's second behind Fear Zafonic in the Birmingham Cup was an excellent run as he also had the beating of favourite for this race Jogadusc Ace.
While he throws in the odds stinker, would not be without a chance if on-song today.
Mountjoy Ruby looks the stable third string but Wallis has no doubt that this dog can improve and he would not be surprised by a strong showing from the least fancied of his runners.
He has a clear liking for Hall Green which could be a big help, having reached the final of the Produce Stakes last year unbeaten before finishing fourth in the final.
While Wallis appears to hold the key to the race, Tony Dean could be the man to upset the odds with his two runners, Blonde Fern at 7/1 in the betting and Toosey Blue at odds of 14/1.
Dean has said that Blonde Fern is overpriced and if she can improve on her trapping will be a big threat.
It looks though like she'll need to find a bit extra as she has finished second behind Lenson Express on her last two starts.
She is fit and ready for the race though and if the market leaders cause each other trouble from Traps 1 and 2, then she could be the one to take advantage.
The outsider in Trap 5 Toosey Blue reached the final of this last year and finished fourth.
His races in the lead up to this have not been as spectacular as some of his rivals but Dean has come out and said that if he can be leading at the first bend, it will be disappointing if he is caught.
This is a wide-open race and for some the 14/1 on offer about a dog in a race as competitive as this could be too big to resist.
