Local trainer targets Kelso on Saturday

GEORGE BEWLEY is looking for big runs from his three representatives at Kelso on Saturday.

First up for the Hawick trainer is hat-trick seeking Our Joey, who makes his debut over obstacles in the opening Download The Free racing UK iPhone App ‘National Hunt' Maiden Hurdle.

He said: "He's done everything we asked of him by winning two bumpers at Perth. He's bred to stay and go on the ground and there is an Irish Grand National winner in his family. "

Next up for Bewley is Hunters Belt in the Peter Doyle Handicap Hurdle and the borders handler added: "He's gone up 9lb for his win at Perth. The ground will be heavy enough but he's in good form since his last run."

Last runner to go for Bewley is Teerie Express in the Happy Birthday Gillian Novices' Hurdle and, like the other pair, he is partnered by the trainer's conditional rider son Jonathon.

He said: "He's an 11-year-old up against some horses less than half his age but he's been an old star. He was Jonathon's first winner in a point to point and he will be running on when the others are stopping."
