Aidan O’Brien 10-1 to break training record in 2012
When Camelot won the Irish Derby on Saturday at the Curragh, the star three-year-old colt became Aidan O'Brien's ninth Group/Grade One winner in 2012.
William Hill reacted by cutting the price for O'Brien to break the world record (currently 25) for Group/Grade One wins in a year to 10-1 (from 12-1) in their horse racing odds.
The master of Ballydoyle is set to field another odds-on favourite in a Group One this coming Saturday, when So You Think makes his final racecourse appearance in the Coral-Eclipse before starting on a career at stud.
William Hill spokesman, Richard Thomas, said "The current record for Group or Grade One wins in a year is currently held by the legendary American trainer Bobby Frankel. Aidan O'Brien has nine Group Ones on the board this year, and So You Think is odds on to make it ten this Saturday, but we are happy to offer 10-1 about the Ballydoyle master reaching 26 by the end of 2012. Frankel was a legend amongst trainers, and his record of 25 Grade One wins in 2003 was an awesome achievement."
