Bank on Frank for Royal Ascot history?
The unbeaten Frankel - officially the world's greatest racehorse - is set to become one of the shortest-priced Royal Ascot winners in history when he lines up in the Queen Anne Stakes on Tuesday.
On Saturday William Hill saw further support for Sir Henry Cecil's star, now 1-6 from 1-5 for straight victory number eleven, who looks fully in line to surpass the 1-6 odds of 1970 Coronation Stakes winner Humble Duty.
Frankel has been quoted at odds-on at every start since he made his debut, however this year's date at the Royal Meeting is highly likely to be the shortest starting price in his career so far.
William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said "Frankel looks certain to be one of the shortest-priced winners in the history of Royal Ascot, and, not only has Sir Henry's celeb been backed in singles despite his prohibitive odds, but victory number eleven will set the multiple ball rolling for the week to come"
The shortest price Frankel has jumped away at has been 1-4 - in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury in 2011.
SHORT-PRICE ROYAL ASCOT WINNERS IN RECENT RECORD
• Ardross - also trained by Sir Henry Cecil - is the most recent short-price Royal Ascot winner, who in 1982 was successful in the Ascot Gold Cup at odds of 1/5
• In 1970 the Peter Walwyn-trained Humble Duty won the Coronation Stakes at odds of 1/6
