July Sports Preview

July Sports Preview: British & Irish Lions 3rd Test, Wimbledon Finals & The Ashes

Whilst the vast majority of Brits will be drinking sangria and topping up their tan on the sunny beaches across the Mediterranean this month, there is still plenty of sport to quench your thirst throughout July and as always William Hill will be here to satisfy all your betting needs.

Perhaps the highlight of the month comes in the cricket as England face old foes Australia in back-to-back Ashes series' beginning on the 10th, arguably the sport's most prestigious competition. England will be aiming for their third Urn on the trot but with the rivalry between the two sides so intense, nothing is guaranteed. Click here to bet on our wide range of Ashes betting.

But first up we've got the continuation of the Tour de France where Brit Chris Froome leads the Team Sky squad and is the bookies favourite to win the tournament outright at 8/11 after 2012 winner Sir Bradley Wiggins was declared unfit to race last month.

We then have the Final weekend of tennis at Wimbledon on 6th & 7th July which are now being streamed for the first time ever on William Hill TV.  With first seed Novak Djokovic facing a tricky Fourth Round tie against former World number 2 Tommy Haas, coupled with shock early exits to big names such as Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in week one, British number 1 Andy Murray's chances of going one step further than last year and being the first Brit to lift the trophy at the All England Club since 1977 are looking good, with those punters backing our pre-tournament headline offer of Murray to win at 4/1 licking their lips.

In the women's tennis, Britain have found themselves a new sweetheart to cheer on in eighteen-year-old Laura Robson.   After seeing off the early threat of Maria Kirilenko in the First Round, she is now looking at the prospect of facing ladies' favourite Serena Williams in the Quarter Final if she can get through her next challenge against Kaia Kanepi.  Never-mind Murray Mount, could we now be cheering from Robson Rise?

Also on the 6th we have what promises to be an epic finale to the British & Irish Lions Tour of Australia, after Welsh fullback Leigh Halfpenny missed penalty kick from distance fell short of the posts resulted in a tied series and handing the momentum over to the Wallabies. Can the wounded Lions fight back or will Australia rise to the occasion? Don't forget to take advantage of our fantastic Headline Offers for the match.

Football action comes in the form of the final stages of the U20s World Cup in Turkey and the CONCACAF Gold Cup starting on the 8th where holders Mexico will defend their 2011 title. After last month's failures of England's U20s and U21s, attention now turns to the women in the UEFA Women's European Championships in Sweden with Powell's Three Lionesses remaining the only glimmer of hope for English football success this summer. There are also tons of Club and International Football matches being streamed on William Hill TV across the globe.

Formula One action moves to Germany and Hungary this month on the weekends of the 6th and 27th following from action at Silverstone at the end of last month where Mercedes' German Nico Rosberg claimed first place. Will be seeing another German winner on home soil? View our full range of Formula One Championship betting here.

But that's not all, as July sees the 142nd Open Golf Championship commence at Muirfield from 14th to 21st July with William Hill putting Tiger Woods as early favourite at 6/1 and Rory McIlroy at 12/1. On top of that, action Super League continues throughout the month with William Hill offering great value try-casts on all televised games beginning with Hull v Wakefield on 1st, along with Darts betting available for the World Matchplay Tournament in Blackpool and plenty of Boxing.

The highly anticipated start of the Premier League season is just six weeks away but with David Moyes replacing the retired of Sir Alex Ferguson at Man United and the return of Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, we're expecting a busy summer of transfer activity ahead of us so don't forget to visit our Football Specials page to see our full range.

If that's not enough, let's not forget to mention that William Hill is the front runner when it comes to betting on Horse Racing both throughout the UK and Internationally with radio podcasts and new video features previewing the main races of the day.  July's highlights include the Eclipse meeting at Sandown, Glorious Goodwood, the King George & Queen Elizabeth meetings at Ascot and the July Festival at Newmarket as well as the William Hill sponsored  Raceday at Ayr on the 8th.

June saw the end to the thrilling williamhill.com Greyhound Derby, but if you missed it then get on during the William Hill Festival of Greyhound Racing which takes place at Sunderland throughout the month of July and the Final coming on the 18th.

You know the score...William Hill never lets you down by offering such a wide range of betting options on all major sporting events 365 days a year, which is why we are constantly recognised as the HOME of Betting.
