Kelso Preview - 24th October
MONEY TALKS AT KELSO
WILLIAM MONEY takes on six rivals in the feature race at Kelso on Saturday as Chris Grant's Billingham raider returns to the scene of his February triumph.
Carrying the black and white colours of North East owner Dave Armstrong, he lines up for the EDF-ER Handicap Chase.
Armstrong said: "It's that time of year when our jumpers start to get busy and I'm running Tickanrun, Makbullet and Ha'penny Woods as well as 'Billy'. He was a big price when he won at Kelso last time and he gave us a great thrill when winning at even bigger odds in the Tim Moloney Chase at Haydock in April when he stayed on strongly over 3m 4f."
Among the opposition to William Money is Nicky Richards' Gold Futures who has been kept busy in the summer and autumn and has winning form at Bangor and Hexham.
Harry The Viking, locally trained by Sandy Thomson, reappears for the time time since a creditable eighth placed effort in the Scottish Grand National.
Shubaat, who won the Musselburgh Gold Cup on the Flat, has been successful four times over hurdles and makes his second appearance over fences in the Clifford & Martin Firth Memorial Novices' Chase.
Now trained by John Ferguson, he was fourth on his recent chasing debut at Chepstow following a 15-month absence.
