Mission accomplished? Success for Frankel's brother
Noble Mission on Tuesday momentarily grabbed the limelight from his more famous brother Frankel when landing the Gordon Stakes in gritty fashion on the opening day of Glorious Goodwood.
Noble Mission knuckled down to score by a nose to Godolphin's Enecke in a nail-biting conclusion to the Group Three highlight. William Hill reacted by shortening the winner to 12-1 from 16-1 for the St Leger, with the runner-up also quoted at 12-1 for the Doncaster showpiece - for which Camelot remains the hot 1-3 market leader.
William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said "It must be hard when your elder brother is the most famous horse in the world, but Noble Mission temporarily stole the spotlight with a big-race victory of his own, setting things up nicely for Frankel tomorrow"
Jockey Tom Queally, who was well-backed with William Hill for the Goodwood leading rider honours, struck shortly after in the Group Two Lennox Stakes with hot favourite Chachamaidee.
This gets the Glorious proceedings off to a real flyer for Queally, who is William Hill's Flat Racing Ambassador and face of the ‘Mark Your Card' segments on Channel 4 Racing alongside company PR Director Kate Miller.
