Musselburgh Preview - 12 September

AGENT GIBBS, a first runner in Scotland for Ali Stronge, bids to extend his winning sequence in the feature race at Musselburgh on Saturday.

The Berkshire raider, the mount of Tony Hamilton, faces six rivals in the £30,000 Caledonian Cup Handicap having completed an eight-day hat-trick at Lingfield, Brighton and Nottingham last month.

Stronge's husband Sam said: "He's an improving type and has got better with every run. This is a longer trip but he's bred to stay and his full brother has won over two miles.

"The step up shouldn't be a problem and a drop of rain wouldn't do any harm either. He's done well so it was worth going for a decent handicap and we'll see how we get on."

Among the opposition to Agent Gibbs are a trio of runners trained by Mark Johnston.

The Kingsley House trainer is represented by Chadic, Mister Rockandroll and Adele and all three have fairly recent winning form.

Top-weight Maxwell is trained by Ralph Beckett who will be at Doncaster to saddle his supplemented St Leger fancy Simple Verse in the final Classic of the season.

Atlantic Affair, Hidden Rebel and Dark Crystal have all got winning form at Musselburgh this year and they have been declared along with four others for the £12,500 EBF Scottish Premier Series Fillies' Handicap.
