Musselburgh preview - Friday 29th June

Oldjoesaid No.1 hope for Paul Midgley at Musselburgh.

Oldjoesaid spearheads a four-strong raiding party at Musselburgh for Yorkshire trainer Paul Midgley who is currently enjoying a decent run of form.

The gelding bids to follow up a Catterick success, gained earlier this month under 10st, in the Investec Wealth & Investment Handicap.

Midgley, who has saddled four winners in the last fortnight, said: "He won well by two-lengths at Catterick on what was his first run for us and he's in great order. I'd say he's our best chance of a winner and any rain that comes will only be of a help him."

The Westow yard's first runner is Maggie's Gem in the Racing UK EBF Maiden Stakes and Midgley said: "We're trying blinkers on her for the first time and she certainly goes a lot better in them at home. She should go well as it doesn't look a great race."

Dispol Diva delighted connections on her return after a 17-month absence at Windsor recently and she is in the line-up for the Turcan Connell Handicap.

Midgley added: "She's in good form and ran a great race to finish third at Windsor. Hopefully this won't come too soon but there are no signs at home that it will - if it gets softer it will only increase her chances."

Summer Dancer completes the stable quartet in the concluding Isle of Skye Whisky Handicap.

"She ran a nice, promising race last month at Ayr on her debut for us but then disappointed there the other day," Midgley said. "We're sticking the cheekpieces on so hopefully they will do the trick."
