Musselburgh Preview - New Year's Day
BRIAN ELLISON sent out a personal-best 95 winners last year and he's after a flying start to 2013 on New Year's Day at Musselburgh where he saddles nine runners.
The Malton trainer is four-handed in the totequadpot At totepool.com Hogmaneigh Handicap Hurdle with Capellanus, Dontpaytheferryman, Ultimate and Amtired.
Ellison said: "There aren't too many decent two-mile handicap hurdles about and its worth having a go at this as the money is so good.
"Capellanus came from Ireland and was fourth on his first run for us at Wetherby. He is a horse with a lot of ability. Dontpaytheferryman loves it round and has won four times at the track. He should run his race again and is in decent form.
"Ultimate also likes the place and he's run well at the track without winning there. He's been second and third and was beaten just over a length in fifth place at last month's meeting . Amtired has only had three handicaps over hurdles. We gave him a spin on the Flat at Wolverhampton last month to sharpen him up as he had been off since the spring."
Ellison introduces jumps newcomer Kerchak in the Bet toteplacepot At totepool.com First Footer Novices' Hurdle and added: "He was off for a year and a half and he's had three runs on the Flat since coming to us. He has schooled well and is certainly big enough to make a nice hurdler.
"My other runners Bocciani, Powerful Ambiton, and Local Present and Phase Shift all have bits and pieces of chances."
