Punters swipe some Star Gold Cup value
William Hill cut Kauto Star's Cheltenham Gold Cup price today following an open interview with Paul Nicholls on Racing UK, in which the trainer vehemently outlined the well-being of his celebrated chaser.
In an emotive piece, the Ditcheat handler expressed his thoughts on the eleven-year-old's performance in Saturday's William Hill King George VI Chase, suggesting that nowadays Kempton Park may not indeed be his most suitable course, with the more testing requirements of Prestbury Park a favoured location.
William Hill originally pushed Kauto out to 12-1 after the King George, however with such a splendid record in Cheltenham's Blue Riband event, and the upbeat tones of Paul Nicholls, the chaser now takes the 9-1 place behind stable companion Denman.
Lucy Rhodes, spokeswoman for William Hill, said, 'There were a fair few fingers burnt on Saturday, however Kauto's huge and loyal fan-base have in no way lost the faith. After Paul Nicholls' encouragement today the punters have been helping themselves to the 10-1 available this morning, so we've snipped his Gold Cup challenge to 9-1.'
