Punters' fav Kauto to Star in biggest ever bookie bash
Bookies William Hill are getting ready to face their equine nemesis 'Kauto Star' on Saturday when he lines up as the 4/6 odds-on favourite to win the William Hill King George VI Chase.
Kauto's list of achievements include four consecutive William Hill King Georges, Two Cheltenham Gold Cups, and eight other wins in Top Grade Jumps Racing. No other horse in history of racing has cost bookmakers over £50 million in payouts, as Kauto has done, making him the horse the bookies love to hate.
Since making history on Boxing Day 2009 with his fourth William Hill King George win in a row punters have flocked to back 'Kauto' and Hills estimate that, should he win, the industry will be paying out a further £5 million - with 92% of William Hill punters siding with the favourite to date.
Kate Miller, spokeswoman for sponsors William Hill, said: ''Kauto Star has inflicted more misery on bookmakers than any other horse in the two thousand-plus years of Racing. His record-breaking attempt on Saturday, with Sports Personality Tony McCoy on board, would cement his position as punters greatest horsey hero of all time.''
So confident are the chances of Kauto that Hills are offering odds of 3-1 that he demolishes his opposition and wins by more than 10 lengths!
