Sparky May just prove electric
William Hill have shortened Sparky May for the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle after receiving interest following her bold Ascot victory, the firm going 8-1 from 12-1.
The six-year-old is enjoying an unbeaten record since tackling timber, with a gutsy defeat of the Nicky Henderson-trained Carole’s Legacy in Saturday’s Grade 2 event the pinnacle so far.
Lucy Rhodes, spokeswoman for William Hill, said, "Sparky May was most impressive with her economical leaping and fiery front-running spirit. She seems to have caught the attention of some shrewdies so we cut her from12s to 8s, but the question is, how will she fare against queen Quevega?"
David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle betting: 5-4 Quevega, 5-1 Tarla, Voler La Vedette, 8-1 Sparky May, 10-1 Morning Supreme, Our Girl Salley, 12-1 Banjaxed Girl, Caroles Legacy, 16-1 L’Accordioniste, 20-1 Macville, 33-1 Amber Brook, Santera (E/W 1/4 1,2,3)
