The Fugue calls Oaks Tune
The Fugue was slashed to 7-2 joint-favourite (from 10-1) with William Hill for the Investec Oaks following an imperious display in the Musidora Stakes at York on Wednesday.
The early-morning gamble surrounding the Aidan O'Brien-trained Twirl went awry with Gosden's daughter of Dansili thwarting the Ballydoyle favourite with over four lengths in hand, and she now joins Kissed and Maybe, who Hills eased from 3-1, at the head of the betting for the fillies' Epsom Classic.
William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said "The O'Brien Oaks stranglehold parted swiftly when The Fugue played her Classic cards In one fell swoop in one of the most recognised Oaks trials"
