Weatherbys Preview: Cheltenham Gold Cup
Paul Jones of Weatherbys gives us his independent betting tips on all the races from this year's Cheltenham Festival.
Of all the Gold Cup runners Neptune Collonges is the most likely to run his race which is why I why he makes each-way appeal even at around 6/1 as I feel he just has to run his race and that may well be good enough to win this season with Denman miles off his game and Kauto Star susceptible over 3m2f at this track at a proper gallop.
I don’t fancy Madison Du Berlais or Denman at all and think Barbers Shop is a handicapper but one that fits the trends quite well.
The best longshot is Roll Along and why he is so much bigger than Albertas Run who I think he would have beaten in another furlong in last season’s SunAlliance, and Air Force One who he beat at Ascot cosily is beyond me and too much has been read into his run on heavy ground he hated last time.
What he wants is a stamina test on good ground on a stiff track and hopefully the ground will come in his favour.
