William Chill King George? Sponsors confident race is on!

London's first snow was sighted on Friday morning, but William Hill King George VI Chase ticket-holders needn't fret as the bookmaking sponsors think it is highly unlikely that the Boxing Day highlight will be affected, offering 20-1 that the meeting is abandoned due to weather reasons.

Unlike the disappointing situation of last year where the meeting had to be re-arranged due to snow and frost, the firm are confident the big day will take place on its traditional date of 26th December this time. However, there could still be a chance of a festive flurry or two and Hills are 5-1 that Kempton Park sees snow on the Boxing Day and a further 33-1 that snow falls on the Sunbury venue during the big race.

Lucy Rhodes, spokeswoman for William Hill, said "Last year's unfortunate circumstances were snow joke, but it looks like this year William Hill King George ticket-holders will be able to enjoy their turkey and trimmings safe in the knowledge the elements won't get in the way this time"
