William Hill Lincoln and Spring Mile betting
After back-to-back bookie-bashing results in the last two renewals, bookmakers William Hill are bracing themselves for another coup at the hands of long-time ante-post favourite Taqleed.
In a stalls draw shown live on Attheraces on Thursday morning, the four-year-old was alotted a middle position in stall eleven, with pace drawn both low and high giving the Richard Hill-ridden runner the chance to split in either pack.
Last year's near-miss Prime Exhibit has been given the perfect opportunity to wreak revenge since it was revealed he will jump away from a plum draw in stall one in the William Hill Lincoln, with the sponsors cutting trainer Richard Fahey from 11-4 to 9-4 to take the traditional Flat season curtain-raiser for the first time.
The six-year-old is one of six entries fielded by the Malton trainer with Irish Heartbeat (11-1), the likely mount of Paul Hanagan, allotted stall seven, while top-weight Harrison George benefits from another low draw in stall four.
William Hill made no changes to the betting following the draw leaving Taqleed as 4-1 favourite, and Gunner Lindley representing Barry Hills, and Prime Exhibit both available at 10-1. Last year's William Hill Spring Mile winner Irish Heartbeat is thereafter at 11-1.
Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ''This appears on paper to be one of the fairest stalls draws in recent years with all prime contenders alloted agreeable positions. Taqleed has the option from stall 11 to split to either side, and on the day there should be no excuses or problems for all the main protaganists. May the best horse win!''
