Breeders' Cup Preview 2010 with Nick Mordin - Friday

This years Thoroughbred World Championships pitch up at Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby, and the Americans are bidding to take their crown back. The past two renewals hugely favoured European raiders with their usual dominance of the turf events supplemented by a liking for the Pro-Ride surface in California, but this year the Yanks have got the edge. It's back to dirt for many of the events and that should swing the advantage the way of our Trans-Atlantic cousins.

That's not to say the European challenge isn't strong. Goldikova, Midday, Paco Boy and host of fascinating juveniles saunter down to downtown Kentucky to take on the finest American racing has to offer, not to mention the freakish fillies Zenyatta and Blind Luck and a handful of Japanese raiders too.

You can catch every race live here on William Hill Radio and to prepare ourselves for the onslaught, we've caught up with International racing expert Nick Mordin to preview the cards. As ever, his research has been extensive and he sounds particularly confident about some of his selections.

We kick off on Friday with the ladies taking centre stage. Midday bids to repeat the dose in the Filly & Mare Turf, and Blind Luck takes on Life at Ten in the Ladies Classic.
