Flat Jockeys' Championship - The Final Day

As if this year’s pursuit of Title glory couldn’t get any more dramatic. Failed helicopter rides, critical suspensions and marvellous multiples – I’m getting dizzy.

On the eve of the final day, the gap remains two - the demons in britches are set to duel across Town Moor’s finest greenery on Saturday, with seven rides apiece.

Richard Hughes who, in partnering Senate (7-1 joint-fav), endeavours to swipe the trophy whilst maintaining JHM Gosden’s marvellous record in the November Handicap, whilst throughout the week there has been increased support for Paul Hanagan’s mount Tepmokea (12-1) in Doncaster’s final mammoth-field charge of the season. Never mind shifting Champions’ Day, this is what really attracts the attention of the masses.

‘Phew, what a season! Who’d have thought we’d end up with such a ding-donger in the final strides of the competition, with Hanagan proving that it is possible to take on the Goliaths – and shine’, comments William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes.

‘Hughes however, has refused to bow out without a fight, leaving us with closing stages akin to hurtling down the Chepstow home straight in a six-furlong sprint. Although whatever the outcome, it cannot be said that either failed in their tasks – which, at the utmost, is to entertain their fans. Forget Churchill, this is where the real party’s at!’
