F1 Punters hoping to ‘Merc' Hills
William Hill have seen a remarkable gamble ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix with virtually every bet for the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher.
Eight in ten bets staked on the winner market have been for the pair who are offered at 50/1 and 66/1 respectively.
"The average stake has been small, but the frequency with which punters are backing the Mercedes pair is quite remarkable and our customers clearly think that the Mercedes has a few upgrades for the weekend!" said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
Sebastian Vettel is the 15/8 favourite to win the race, while Fernando Alonso is 3/1 and Lewis Hamilton 10/3. Jenson Button is 8/1 with Hills.
18/1 is available for any British 1-2.
Having lead the Championship from the very start of the season, Sebastian Vettel has built up an almost unassailable lead and Hills are now betting on who will finish second behind the German, offering 7/4 that Mark Webber does so, 2/1 Alonso and 9/4 Hamilton. Jenson Button is 6/1.
