F1 turnover up on last year even before start of season

William Hill are expecting a record turnover on F1 again this year with the new season just a week away.

Hills have already taken 30% of their overall turnover last year and should the first race be as close as is expected, last year's total could be smashed by the midway point in the season.

"The closer the season is, the better our turnover is," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly. "Two Championships ago, when five drivers went into the final race with a chance of winning, turnover went through the roof and we are keeping our fingers crossed for more of the same this season."

Sebastian Vettel is 11/8 to win the opening GP next week in Melbourne, while Lewis Hamilton (5/1), Mark Webber (6/1), Jenson Button (13/2) and Fernando Alonso (8/1) are all sure to be competing for the first chequered flag of the year.

On Wednesday, Christian Horner claimed that Jenson Button was Sebastian Vettel's main competitor for the Drivers Championship this year, although William Hill disagree, making Lewis Hamilton the 11/2 second favourite behind 10/11 Vettel. Alonso is 13/2, Button 9/1 and Mark Webber 16/1.

With interest in the sport at peak levels, Hills are offering punters new betting opportunities all the time and currently offer odds on 33 different markets!
