Ferrari boy blows away competition
Ferrari's newest signing Fernando Alonso was the first to shine in the pre-season testing in Valencia.
Former Champions Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton were put to shame by the pacey Spaniard during the three day testing under the Spanish sun, while defending champion Jensen Button could only manage to get the gap down to1.5 seconds following the diminutive driver.
"Ferrari did look quick. It was a bit of a frustrating day for me, as I was too high in the seat. But I am sitting lower now and a lot happier." said the former Brawn GP winner.
"It was all about trying to get used to the car."
The speedy Spaniard was the main draw at Valencia's Circuit Ricardo and put on the best possible show for the 36,000 strong crowd.
"It was a very emotional day, it is going to be a very interesting season."
Following the Valencia test Alonso has now been installed as 3/1 favourite to wear the drivers' crown come the end of the 2010 season.
2008 Champion Lewis Hamilton is 10/3, with former master Michael Schumacher at 7/2 in the betting.
We don't fancy defending champ' Jensen Button though, with the Brit found way down the betting at odds of 8/1.
Early forecasts for next week's test at Jerez suggests a chance of rain with the tests set to run from the 10th to the 13th of February... and i plan to be trackside bringing you the latest F1 gossip!
