The odds are stacked... against Alonso
The Brazilian F1 Grand Prix | Bet Now and In-Play | Sunday 16:00 | live on BBC 1 and Sky Sports F1
After eight months and nineteen rounds the 2012 Formula One season has come down to the wire as Ferrari and Red Bull go head-to-head at Interlagos, Brazil this weekend for the Drivers' Championship.
Red Bull's defending world champion Sebastian Vettel holds a 13-point lead over rival Alonso and the German will be crowned Drivers' Champion for a third consecutive year should he finish in the top
four, regardless of Alonso's finishing position.
If Vettel does win, he will be only the third driver in history alongside Fangio and Michael Schumacher to win three championships consecutively.
As such, Vettel is the 1/5 favourite to claim the Drivers Championship going in to this weekend, Fernando Alonso is available at 10/3.
The German won this race in 2010 and is currently priced as the 15/8 favourite for victory at Interlagos on Sunday, with Lewis Hamilton taking his seat in a McLaren for the final time - the 11/4 second favourite.
Having never won at Interlagos, Fernando Alonso is available at 7/2 to take the chequered flag at this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix, and if he is to do so there may be some assistance required from his team, particularly Felipe Massa who looks likely to bow out of Ferrari at his home Grand Prix.
Will team orders play a part on Sunday? Both Felipe Massa and 2011 Brazil Grand Prix winner Mark Webber could have a heavy influence on how the 2012 Drivers' Championship is concluded, Massa could block Vettel, Webber could hold up Alonso, and Hamilton might just cruise through to claim the final race of the season, the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix!
Sunday afternoon looks set to provide us with the most enthralling Grand Prix of the season. Bet now.
