Vettel Cut For Championship Already, Button Out To 20/1
Despite failing to win the Australian Grand Prix, William Hill have cut the odds of Sebastian Vettel winning yet another F1 Drivers Championship from 13/8 to 6/4. Fernando Alonso is the 5/2 second favourite, with current Championship leader, Kimi Raikkonen, the 7/2 third favourite.
British hopes were dashed as Lewis Hamilton could only finish fifth and he is 10/1 for the Drivers while last year's race winner, Jenson Button, has been pushed all the way out to 20/1 from 10/1 after his poor ninth place.
"To double Jenson's price for the Championship is a damning indictment of his underwhelming performance in Australia," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
Paul Di Resta, however, managed an eighth place finish and he is 3/1 to bag a podium finish at any point this season.
The McLaren car managed just two points between the two drivers and they are 8/1 joint fourth favourites with Mercedes to win the Drivers Championship behind 5/6 Red Bull, 5/2 Ferrari and 13/2 Lotus.
"Last season, we jumped the gun slightly by pushing the Red Bull prices out after a poor showing in Australia and there will be McLaren fans around the world hoping that we have done the same today, but if that is to be the case, they will have to go back to the drawing board in Northampton because they were poor," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
