McLaren duo on drift for Singapore
Lewis Hamilton is the 9/4 favourite to win the Singapore Grand Prix although his odds are drifting slightly (from 2/1 on Wednesday) as punters are avoiding the McLaren duo (Button is also out from 5/1 to 11/2). Conversely, Sebastian Vettel has been cut from 7/1 to 6/1 as punters pile on the Red Bull driver.
"Punters have been piling on to Vettel at the moment, so if anybody fancies backing the McLaren cars now may be the time as their odds are on the drift," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
Despite McLaren's recent good form, they have had issues in getting two drivers across the finishing line and it is 16/1 that neither Hamilton nor Button finish, 5/2 that either Hamilton or Button fail to finish and 2/7 they both do finish.
Hamilton enters the race weekend in Singapore with question marks still hanging over his future at McLaren.
As things stand, William Hill have him at 1/2 to start 2013 at McLaren, although Mercedes' courtship of the Brit driver is no secret and they are 6/4 to bag him for the start of next year.
Another Brit who could be on the move is Paul Di Resta, who could be chased by McLaren should Hamilton leave.
He is 5/2 to go to the Woking based team and 3/1 to go to Mercedes at the end of this year. He has had a fantastic season in up and coming Force India and is 7/2 to still be there at the start of the 2013 season.
"Paul Di Resta has had a fantastic 18 months and unlike Hamilton, he has a grounding at a ‘smaller' team which, like Jenson Button, could have moulded him into a future world champion," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
