Can Obama win the Olympics for Chicago?
Chicago are favourites to host the 2016 Olympic games as US president, Barack Obama, travels to Copenhagen to support his hometown.
The International Olympic Commitee meet in the Danish capital city on Friday to announce which city will succeed London's 2012 Olympics. The presence of "the most powerful man on the planet" seems to have sealed it for Chicago.
"Can Obama swing the Olympics for Chicago? Punters are saying yes, he can!" said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. The bookmakers make the Windy City 4/5 favourites to win the Games with Rio de Janeiro 13/8 second favourites; Tokyo at 8/1 and Madrid at 16/1 are the outsiders.
"President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will both make presentations to the IOC during Friday's session," the White House said in a statement.
"They will discuss why Chicago is best to host the 2016 Summer Games, and how the United States is eager to bring the world together to celebrate the ideals of the Olympic movement."
