16/1 Parties amalgamate before General Election
William Hill offer 16/1 that the Conservatives and Lid Dems will have officially amalgamated their two Parties before the next General Election, and 1/100 that they remain as independent from each other.
'Political punters keep asking for odds that the two coalition members will create one Party before the next General Election and although we don't think it is very likely you wouldn;t rule anything out in the current poltical climate' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Success in the Oldham East and Saddleworth by-election will give Labour hope that they could do well were there to be a 2011 General Election - and William Hill have shortened their odds about that happening from 4/1 to 7/2.
'The coalition is facing a number of formidable problems which could cause a schism between the partners, and with Ed Miliband receiving a boost to his position via the by-election a situation might well emerge which could prompt a General Election in 2011 -there are plenty of political punters who believe it is far from impossible' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Following the by-election result William Hill offer 13/8 that the next General Election will again produce a Hung Parliament; 7/4 that there will be a Conservative majority; 15/8 Labour majority; 100/1 Lib Dem majority.
One William Hill client won £777 after staking £7000 at odds of 1/9 on the Lib Dems to beat the Conservatives in Oldham.
