Barack backed but tie a possibility!
Bookmakers William Hill are offering odds of 25/1 that the US Election ends in a tie with both Obama and Romney finishing up with 239 each of the available Electoral College votes - and as the voters go to the polls, Hills have cut Mitt Romney's odds from 7/2 to 10/3 as late support comes in for him.
However, Obama remains a warm favourite despite being eased from 1/5 to 2/9. ‘In the last 24 hours two of every three bets placed on the US Election have been for Obama to win, but in the last few hours Romney bets have begun to increase' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills say they expect up to £10million in bets to be riding on the outcome of the Election, a record total, and they have recently taken a £30,000 bet on Obama from a Manchester betting shop client, and another of US$30,000 from a Thailand-based customer, also for Obama, while they have a £25,000 bet riding on Romney.
