Betting on the cost of drinking

William Hill have opened a book on how much the minimum cost per unit of alcohol, to be introduced later this year, will be. David Cameron has indicated that he wants it to be 40p per unit, but it may be set higher or lower before the final decision is announced.

‘Mr Cameron is planning to introduce a minimum price of 40p per unit for alcohol, and we offer 11/10 that that is what will happen- but there will be plenty of dissenting voices to be heard before the final decision is made, so it could quite easily be higher or lower than 40p' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

What will be the initial minimum price per unit introduced by the Government?........40p - 11/10; Over 40p - 7/4; Under 40p- 11/4.
