You bet Brown may go to country before 6 May
With Labour's support in the opinion polls suggesting that they are in a stronger position than for some considerable while, some political pundits are predicting that Gordon Brown could call a snap General Election. William Hill are offering 1/6 that the Election will take place on May 6; 7/2 before that; and 20/1 later than that.
'We have seen some recent support for an Election before the widely predicted date of May 6 but you could argue equally well that if Labour are improving in the polls they could get closer to the Tories the longer they wait' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.' And the closer the get the more chance there is of Gordon Brown hanging on to power in a Hung Parliament situation.'
As Labour have improved, Hills have lengthened the odds about the Conservatives winning an overall majority and although they are still odds-on to do so Hills have pushed the odds out from 4/9 to 1/2, whilst shortening Labour from 14/1 to 12/1 to do so. Hills now offer 3/1 that David Cameron will be Prime Minister in a hung Parliament and 9/2 that Gordon Brown is.
Meanwhile, Hills are quoting the shortest odds they have offered since Labour came to power, about the Election resulting in a Hung Parliament, and have slashed their odds about that happening from 4/1 to 13/8.
'We have not offered odds as short as these about a Hung Parliament for probably twenty years or more and certainly since Labour took power' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. 'Towards the end of last year we were 4/1 but that price has shortened consistently since the turn of the year'.
As the countdown to the General Election intensifies William Hill will have a wide range of betting markets available for you to maybe make some money on, which will make a change after the politicians have made plenty out of us with their expenses etc.
