You bet UKIP closing in on Eastleigh shock win!
UKIP have come in for the heftiest late betting support as the Eastleigh by election campaigning came to a close. William Hill cut their odds for a UKIP victory from 7/1 to 6/1, and again to 5/1 during the day. They were initially available at 100/1 at the very start of the campaign.
Hills make the Lib Dems 1/3 favourites - they were quoted at 6/4 when the book opened; while the Conservatives, original 1/ 2 favourites are now out to 4/1 second favourites.
Labour are quoted at 100/1.
'This is set to be the biggest betting by-election we've ever seen with a six figure industry turnover assured' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.'There has been susbtantial support for all three of the front runners, with UKIP coming through strongly as the finishing post looms up'

Hills are also offering a 'Best of the Rest' market in which National Health Action are 1/2 favourites with Independent candidate Danny Stupple 6/4; English Dems 10/1; Peace Party 16/1; TU/Socialists 20/1; Wessex Regionalists 20/1; Christian Party 25/1; Elvis Loves Pets 33/1; Monster Raving Loony William Hill Party 33/1.
**THE LOONY PARTY candidate, Alan 'Howlin' Laud' Hope, has been backed from 5/6 to 4/11 to poll 125 or more votes - he is 2/1 to score 124 or fewer.
