Racing Post App set to record its millionth bet
The countdown to the millionth bet on the Racing Post App has reached its final stage - with the Racing Post and their betting partners William Hill both expecting the milestone bet to be placed on Saturday - and to celebrate this momentous occasion William Hill are going to give the millionth bettor a £1,000 free bet.
William Hill and the Racing Post created the ground breaking iPhone app in December 2010. The Racing Post application, which is the most popular horse racing app in the App Store, boasts seamless betting directly from Britain's biggest bookmaker William Hill.
In short, it means you can browse Racing Post's renowned news, tips and data, make an informed decision about which horse to back in a race and then place a bet simply by tapping the William Hill odds on the racecard. The race can then be followed with the Live Reporter function and via William Hill radio.
It adds up to a completely unique product in the mobile betting market.
‘At 3pm on Friday we had taken on 983,198 bets,' said Michael Byrne, Head of Mobile at William Hill. ‘So we're expecting to breach the million mark at some stage on Saturday.'
‘We're delighted with our partnership with the Racing Post, we knew the app would be well received but getting to the millionth bet within the first year is fantastic.'
‘The Racing Post, Shake-A-Bet, Sportsbook and Match Predictor Apps have all contributed to an 800% year-on-year increase in our mobile turnover. Mobile betting now accounts for around 5% of our online turnover and we're expecting that percentage to keep rising.'
‘Our ambition to revolutionise the betting landscape with the ability to bet in the know - anywhere - has actually been realised,' said Mark Renshaw, Head of Online at Racing Post.
‘Approaching the one million mark and the fact we're consistently ranked in the top 10 free sports apps is proof of this. The growth of the app has really pleased us but we're not finished yet. There are a few more features that we're working on with William Hill that will really delight app users.'
