Swingers: Best in the West Leaderboard

The William Hill Swingers: Best in the West golf prediction competition, with a total prize fund of £1,000 in free bets to be won, runs each week until the end of February.

The schedule for the competition takes in a total of seven PGA Tour events and can be viewed here.

You choose three players that you think will bring you the biggest returns and we'll total them up over the seven rounds with the top 20 on the leaderboard getting a prize. Read full details here

William Hill Swingers: Best in the West Leaderboard

Round 1 - Sony Open in Hawaii

Ryan Palmer put Gareth from Huntingdon way out in the lead with his 150/1 winner returning £1895.00! Over half of our entries managed to get some returns though and there's still a long way to go.

The William Hill contingent, a dubious collection of the News team, William Hill Radio presenters and Trading team had a poor start with only Sam Leggott (£100.00), Dave Kelner (£72.50), Martin Ramshaw (£45.00) and Jonathan Cordingley (£40.00) registering a profit.

Round 2 - Bob Hope Classic

A win from 100/1 shot Billy Haas helps William from Croydon up the table to second. Our leader didn't play this week - I think many of you were caught out by the early start - so stays on £1,895 but you see how easy it is to catch up.

As it stands twenty one of you would be getting at least some of the £1,000 prize fund if the competition ended today, but it doesn't so don't miss out on your entry for the Farmers Insurance (San Diego) Open.

Round 3 - Farmers Insurance San Diego Open

Ryan from Mirfield struck gold in his first week in the competition and goes straight in to fourth place having picked 80/1 winner Ben Crane. He wasn't alone as Gary from Newcastle also won £1,020 on Crane. That's Gary's third winning week on the bounce and puts him in third place.

Winners in weeks one and two have not played since their big wins but they want to be careful not to rest on their laurels as with winners priced 150/1, 100/1 and 80/1 so far in the Best in the West competition the £1,000 is still anyone's for the taking.

Round 4 - Northern Trust Open

Steve Stricker won the tournament and won you all £170 returns, well, those of you that picked him, but it was 80/1 JB Holmes who returned the most (£210) just with a place. Our very own James Kennedy finally did us proud by breaking into the top 10 (don't worry, he won't get any of the prize money) with Steve Stricker plus £175 from Dustin Johnson.

Gary J from Newcastle has shown us that persistence, and picking the right players, pays off as he's overtaken our Week 2 winner and gone into second place.

Round 5 - AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Dustin Johnson stepped up and helped out with £245.00 returns for many of you as he recorded back-to-back titles at the AT&T at Pebble Beach. David Duval was the most profitable with his second place as the 250/1 shot brought £635.00 back and helped David from London jump up to fifth place in the table with just two weeks to go.

Once again, our early big winners have failed to show up so make sure you're still "in it to win it" and show them they're wrong to sit on their laurels. Even I've got myself in the money spot, if I were allowed to win, so it takes nothing more than a couple of decent returns in the last two rounds to get up there.

Round 6 - Accenture Match Play

Ian Poulter finally lived up to the talk, albeit his own talk, by winning his first tournament in Arizona. Ryan from Mirfield had him and runner-up Paul Casey earning him returns of £430.00 and firing him up the leaderboard into second position with just one more week to go. There are a few new names in the money too setting themselves up nicely with a chance to win one of the £1,000 in free bets we're giving away.

Round 7 - Waste Management Phoenix Open

Hunter Mahan had a great weekend shooting a 65 in both the final two rounds of this week's PGA Tour event. The £645.00 he returned for the £10 each-way bet made a big different to the final leaderboard of our Best in the West competition as it fired a big group of you into the winning positions.

A total of 22 competitors will share the free bet prize pool of £1,000.00 with Gary from Newcastle taking away the £500.00 top prize - let's hop he also backed his selections throughout the competition as he would have won a total of £2,171.67 had he placed a £10 each-way bet on his three selections each week.
