William Hill enjoyed a stellar night at the betting industry's own 'Oscar's' last night, when landing the top three awards - including Bookmaker of the Year, at the annual Betview Awards in a glittering dinner at the Hilton Park Lane, London.
Hosted by BBC presenter Clare Balding, the awards recognise and reward the outstanding achievement, ingenuity, innovation and sheer hard work that those at the coal face of the British betting Industry have achieved over the past year.
William Hill was a finalist in five categories and walked away with the three top awards.
The awards were:
BETTING SHOP MANAGER OF THE YEAR
Awarded to Jane Noble, who as manager of William Hills in Darlington, demonstrated all round excellence in running her betting shop. Hills won this award for the second consecutive year, following the success of Bambos Charalambous from London's Edgware Road Shop, who was once again a finalist this year.
BETTING CHAIN OF THE YEAR
Awarded to the betting chain with more than 20 retail outlets, William Hill demonstrated consistency of the brand across all outlets, and introduced innovations such as WHTV and the All Time Champions Series of virtual races, which enhanced the betting experience for its customers.
BOOKMAKER OF THE YEAR
The ultimate accolade, awarded to William Hill as the bookmaker who demonstrated all-round excellence, consistently throughout the past year. The company was also a finalist in two other awards on the evening, for the Most Creative Marketing Campaign and the Online Betting Company of the Year.
Ralph Topping, CEO of Hills commented;
"This is a proud night for William Hill. Last year we bagged two awards and this year we won three.
I am particularly proud of Jane Noble and Bambos Charalambous for their respective wins as Britain's Betting Shop Manager of the Year for the last two years, it is reward for a job well done.
Thanks to Betview Magazine, they are deservedly recognised publicly, but these awards are also a tribute to the experience, skill and commitment of every one of our 16,000 employees, who daily, provide the best customer service within the industry.
2009 was a challenging year and I couldn't be more proud of their achievements, it is recognition of the fact that William Hill is raising the bar for industry excellence."
