Nobby under pressure; Rhinos extinction threat
William Hill, official Super League bookmaker, make Wigan coach Brian Noble 7/2 favourite in the betting to be the first top flight coach to leave his post in 2009 ahead of his side’s game against Castleford on Friday.
"After only two defeats it might be an exaggeration to say that Nobby will be desperate for the win, but the pressure is sure to mount if his side fail to get the job done this week” said Hill’s spokesman Tim Pakyurek.
Wigan are 2/9 with Hills to pick up their first two points against Castleford, with the Tigers put in at 3/1 and the draw a 20/1 chance.
On handicap Hills ask Wigan to concede 12 points to their visitors, with both sides priced at 10/11 and the handicap tie 14/1.
First Super League coach to leave in 2009: 7/2 Noble; 5/1 Lowes; 6/1 Kear; 7/1 Matteson; 10/1 McRae; 12/1 Morgan; 14/1 McDermott; 16/1 Agar, Walters, McNamara; 25/1 Dixon, Brown; 40/1 McLennan; 66/1 Potter. 7/1 No coach to leave. (regular season only).
Leeds Rhinos have been installed 8/11 favourites by William Hill to win the World Club Challenge against Manly on 1st March, but face a tough Super League test at Hull KR before taking on the Australian Champions.
Leeds are 4/9 with Hills to beat the Robins – the biggest price they’ve been in the Super League era against a side yet to finish in the top four – with the home side put in at 13/8. The draw is 18/1 after Hull KR opened their season by sharing the spoils at Bradford, a result that saw their Grand Final odds cut from 50/1 to 33/1.
“Craven Park is probably not the place you’d choose to visit ahead of a major final, and with a few key players not likely to return until next week it wouldn’t surprise me to see Rovers turning the Rhinos over on Sunday” said Pakyurek.
How will Leeds perform in their next two matches?
6/4 beat Hull KR and beat Manly; 2/1 beat Hull KR but lose to Manly; 4/1 lose to Hull KR but beat Manly; 4/1 lose both matches. (80 minutes only).
