Warr-a massive price!
The top two sides in Super League clash on Friday night at the Galpharn Stadium and it's the visitors who will be feeling the pressure after a shock defeat last time out.
Warrington looked like world beaters just a couple of weeks ago when they saw off Champions Wigan at the DW Stadium. They came crashing back down to earth at the hands of Catalan Dragons on Sunday though to continue the unpredictable nature of Super League XVI.
Not only have the Wolves gotten the better of Wigan this season they've also comprehensively seen off big four rivals Leeds and St Helens as well as putting 82 points past Harlequins. That would lead me to believe that their last result was merely a blip. Maybe complacency crept in at the Halliwell Jones Stadium after such a good run and they expected their game against The Dragons to be a walkover.
William Hill believe this will be a close encounter making Warrington slight favourites at 4/6. That bet cannot be missed. There was a televised draw last week between Leeds and Wigan and Hills offer 18/1 that there is a repeat in this one. The home side can be backed at 6/5.
On the handicap market Huddersfield are given a two point start, the handicap draw is 16/1 whilst both sides are priced at 10/11.
The sides are tied on twelve points with only a superior points difference in favour of the Wolves separate them at the top of the table. Huddersfield will take some confidence after big wins over Hull KR and Wakefield in recent weeks.
They ran is six tries against Wakefield on Sunday with Graeme Horne (20/1 to score the first try against Warrington) and Michael Lawrence (14/1) going over the whitewash twice.
That followed a comprehensive away win at Hull KR showing they're a team capable of seeing off the lesser lights in the league without many problems. However, when they did meet one of the big boys, Wigan at the Galpharn, they came badly unstuck. Despite the visitors having a number of injuries that night the Giants never troubled the Cherry and Whites and were on the end of a 20-6 reversal. Warrington had no problems with the same opponents.
Former Giants full-back Brett Hodgson moved to Warrington in the close season and has been amongst the tries for his new club as well as being a lethal kicker. As our 'Match Winner' offer for the match we've enhanced the price on Hodgson scoring a try in a Warrington win to 3/1.
The teams have already met this season, Huddersfield running out 28-18 winners during the Millenium Magic weekend in Cardiff. Danny Brough was the hero on the day scoring two tries, he's 20/1 to opening the scoring in this one. I don't read to much into the results from the games in Cardiff so I am discounting that result.
I think last weekend's loss will serve as a wake up call to this classy Warrington side and I expect them to win well. I would suggest you take them on the handicap (-2) at odds of 10/11. Bets like that don't come along very often. You can also back them to win by more than 13 points at odds of 13/5 which is also worthy of a smaller investment.
