Harlequins' fans bloody bets boycott
The 'Bloodgate' scandal has deterred Harlequins' fans from backing their side to win the Guinness Premiership, which gets underway on Friday night, say bookmakers William Hill, who have taken no bet bigger than £60 for the 9/1 fifth favourites to top the regular season table.
'Quins are a well supported club and we'd normally expect good backing for them to top the table in a season when they start as fifth favourites, but the biggest bet we've taken on them is just £30 each-way' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills make Leicester 8/13 favourites to get the season off to a winning start when they play 5/4 shots Sale in the opening game of the campaign on Friday night, with the draw an 18/1 chance.
The Tigers are favourites for both the Regular Season and Grand Final with Hills, who quote them at 7/1 to win both.
