The Masters - draw and scores

The Masters kicks off the New Year for snooker with Wembley Arena the venue for the third year.

World number one Ronnie O'Sullivan is the defending champion after he defeated 2008 winner Mark Selby in last year's final. 'The Rocket' is gunning for his fifth Masters title while current world champion John Higgins is looking for his third Masters title.

The Masters is an invitation tournament rather than a ranking event. The top 16 players in the world rankings are joined by the winner of a qualifying tournament and a wild card which this year are Rory McLeod and Jimmy White respectively.

The Benson and Hedges Masters was first won by John Spencer in 1975, beating Ray Reardon. This year's tenth seed Stephen Hendry is the tournament's most successful ever player with six titles to his name.
